During the day, you can visit the Agent from “Furrow Bread” Stud Farm to purchase a horse at £10 (cash) each.

There are 64 nags for sale, of varying abilities. They are all finely tuned athletic animals, known for their lack of muscle, gammy legs, and speeds reaching up to 6 miles an hour if they’ve had some oats. Sugar lumps will give them an extra energy burst, possibly not legal though…

 

You will recognize some of the Horses – The Agent from “Furrow Bread” has acquired the names of some famous (and missing) horses and the Bare West Team have offered some suitable names that aptly describe the horses’ abilities over several furlongs.

 

There are 8 races with 8 horses per race, and your horse is only entered in one race. If your horse wins the race, then you will receive the prize offered by the sponsor for that race, to be presented by Queen Vivienne who previously presided over the Hobby Horse Gymkhana.

 

Everyone attending this one-off horse race spectacular will be given a number of casino chips so that you can bet on each race.

 

Every table will have a list of the horses running in each race. Far be it from us to offer any suggestions about any horse’s ability to even get off the starting block.

 

You will place your bet at one of the 8 Turf Agents (we are looking for volunteers to help with this). You will then receive back a ticket confirming your bet. Once all the bets are in, the Turf Accountants will work out the payout for the winning horse.

 

The Race will begin and you will cheer on your horse and hope that it doesn’t fall at the first hurdle. If the horse you have bet on has confounded all expectations and not only finished the race but actually won the race, with or without its rider, then you need to go back to the Turf Agent to receive your payout.

 

At the end of the evening, the person who has won the most chips will also win a prize.Celebrate your success during the course of the evening by regular trips to the Bar.
