BareCamp 2022 - What is it, and what's planned?

BareCamp is a weeklong naturist event with planned clothes off at 1200hrs on Monday 5th Sept and clothes back on at 1200hrs the following Monday. This gives everyone a potential full week of naturism within a lovely, farm setting. The location is Thorney Lakes - a large farm/campsite, near Langport, Somerset. The site is very large, very rural and comes with two well stocked fishing lakes. Away from the main camping area you can enjoy the site completely naked, we just ask that you don’t go off site naked.

During the week we have organised various forms of entertainment, activities and outside visits which are also naked if you so wish. Typically, the day starts off with a breakfast van arriving on site from around 0800hrs. We then have craft sessions, talks, coffee and cakes, boules and other such things taking place throughout the day. In the evening we will be having quizzes, a film night and most evenings a silent disco very kindly provided by DJ’s Dave & Tony. The evening meals will either be a mass takeaway, think £600 Indian takeaway, pizzas or fish and chips cooked on site

The outside visits arranged so far by the team are a visit to Polden vineyard and the Cider Brandy farm.

We also have a historical visit planned and are just waiting for contracts to be finalised.

During the week at various times, we will also have Scalextric racing cumulating in the Stig challenge with a prize for the winner, a dog agility contest, drone flying, a walk in the area and airgun shooting.

There will also be a 5/10k run with all runners receiving a ‘Bare run certificate’ and a fishing contest, both on the Saturday. We also are planning for lots of impromptu music by some of the Team and hopefully some of ‘you’ the visitors, if you so wish.

All musicians are given an exceptionally warm BareCamp welcome so please if you have a talent consider giving it a go.

This year a Sauna will be also available, free of charge, from 1000hrs till late.

On site we have a fully licensed bar with Mike, one of the team, performing head barman duties providing everyone with good, locally produced ales and cider at very reasonable prices, £3 (or less) for a pint! Mike's very popular ‘Ginger Donkey’ cocktail will again be available (a mix of cider brandy and ginger beer).

Dogs are welcome and if you wish to be on a quiet pitch just let us know and we will find you a suitable pitch away from the crowds. Off the ground fire pits are allowed and available for hire along with wood and marshmallows for evening get togethers with friends.

For information we have previously called BareCamp NudeCamp but we think this new name better reflects Bare West Events' ideas and concepts. BareCamp will be assisted in the planning and during the event by Suntreckers, the National naturist camping organisation. Suntreckers will be on site organising boules, meet and greets and generally doing some of the back room work.

The Bare West team have many years of experience in running naturist events and in 2020 decided to set up a not-for-profit company and in its first year had a very simple camping week with one 4.5m x 3m gazebo and one barrel of beer. In 2021 we had a 3-bay marquee plus two 4.5 x 3m gazebos and Mike sold 8 barrels of beer along with about 10 boxes of cider! In 2022 we are planning to have a marquee double the size plus a stage, a sauna , extra gazebos and Mike will be topping up the bar and extending the opening hours.

Lastly Bare West Events' aim is to promote naturism with respect and inclusivity at its heart in a family friendly environment. In order to do this, we do our very best to keep prices down and we would especially like to thank our sponsors particularly Mike and Wendy Clarke who have, yet again helped us to put on this festival, your generosity is appreciated.
